1. Introduction
Morning AI ("we", "our", "us") operates the Morning AI mobile application and website at morning-ai.app. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Account Information: Name, email address when you create an account
- Preferences: Language, briefing duration, news categories, voice selection
- Alarm Data: Alarm times, repeat schedules, labels
- Location Data: City/address for weather and traffic (only if you enable it)
- Usage Data: Briefing listen history, segment interactions, streak data
3. Optional Integrations & Device Access
With your explicit consent, we may access:
- Gmail: Read-only access to summarize important emails (via Google OAuth)
- Google Calendar: Read-only access to include today's events in your briefing
- IMAP Email: Email credentials are encrypted with AES-256-GCM and stored securely. We only read email subject lines and senders for your briefing summary — we never read email body content.
- Camera: For wake-up photo mission and Morning Locket selfie feature (only when you initiate)
- Microphone: For sleep sound monitoring (snoring, coughing detection). All audio processing happens on your device — no audio is sent to our servers. Short audio clips may be saved locally on your device for your review; you can delete them anytime.
- Apple Health (HealthKit): Read-only access to sleep stages, heart rate, and HRV to calculate your Sleep Score. We never write data to Apple Health. Health data stays on your device and is never sent to our servers.
- Location: Used only when the app is open, for weather, prayer times, and traffic information. We do not track your location in the background.
- CarPlay: Displays your briefing on your car's dashboard. No additional data is collected through CarPlay.
You can disconnect these integrations at any time in Settings.
4. How We Use Your Data
- Generate personalized morning briefings
- Deliver weather, news, and calendar information relevant to you
- Improve briefing quality based on your listening patterns
- Send alarm notifications and briefing-ready alerts
- Provide sleep insights and coaching based on your sleep data
- Calculate Wake Score from alarm mission performance
- Display briefing content on CarPlay-enabled vehicles
4a. Sleep & Health Data
Morning AI provides sleep monitoring features for wellness purposes only. Sleep Scores, sleep insights, and coaching recommendations are not medical advice. They are general wellness metrics and should not be used to diagnose, treat, or prevent any medical condition. Consult a healthcare professional for medical concerns about your sleep.
Sleep sound monitoring (snoring/coughing detection) uses Apple's on-device Sound Classification framework. Raw audio never leaves your device. Only event metadata (sound type, timestamp, confidence level) is processed locally.
5. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on secure servers (Neon PostgreSQL in Frankfurt, Germany). Audio briefings are generated on-demand and temporarily stored. We use industry-standard encryption (TLS/SSL) for all data transmission.
6. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- OpenAI / Anthropic: AI text generation and summarization
- Google Gemini TTS: Text-to-speech voice generation for briefings
- ElevenLabs: Text-to-speech for alarm tones
- OpenWeatherMap: Weather data
- Google APIs: Gmail, Calendar (with your consent)
- RevenueCat: Subscription management and receipt validation. RevenueCat receives your anonymized user identifier and App Store transaction data to manage entitlements. See their Privacy Policy.
- Apple App Store: Payment processing for subscriptions. We never see or store your payment information.
6a. Subscription Data
When you purchase a subscription, we receive the following information from Apple via RevenueCat:
- Subscription product identifier (e.g., morningai.plus.yearly)
- Transaction ID and original transaction ID
- Subscription start date, expiration date, and trial status
- Auto-renewal status and cancellation state
We use this data solely to grant you the features you paid for and to provide customer support. We do not share subscription data with advertisers or third parties beyond the processors listed above.
7. Your Rights (GDPR/KVKK)
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your account and all associated data
- Export your data
- Withdraw consent for optional integrations
8. Data Retention
We retain your data as long as your account is active. Briefing audio files are automatically deleted after 7 days. You can delete your account at any time from Settings.
9. Children's Privacy
Morning AI is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. Significant changes will be notified through the app.
